The Film House very near by the hotel we stayed. Another bright sunny day in Taipei.
Darrin and I lost our direction for a while in the back alley of the Cafe street.
We had three dishes, a beef noodle, a spicy noodle and a pan-fried pork dumpling with some pickles for lunch. As I rushed to taste first as usual, I just have only one picture of them, the spicy noodle. -_-;;
After lunch we went straight up to Ice Monster, one of the popular dessert shops in Taipei.
We made an order of the bestseller no.1 and 2 at this shop. One is the mango smoothie with the mango slices and ice cream, and the other is the tapioca smoothie with some black jelly and syrup. Wow, both tasted heavenly! We might come back to Taipei because of having them again. ^-*/
People started to line up for getting smoothie. Oh, it's good thing that we got there early.
In the late afternoon we arrived at Jinquashi, the gold mining town, about an hour remote from Taipei by bus.
We tried the miner's lunch box at Golden impression cafe & restaurant in Jinquashi. The metal container was packed with some pork chop, rice and pickled side dish, which you could take away with you and eat anywhere. You can keep the container, the chopstick and the cloth wrapper as a souvenir.
Jinquashi was once a thriving gold mining town, but for some period during WWII, it was used as a labor camp and captured lots of soldiers to used as miners.
We moved up to the other hill village, Juifen 10 mins apart from Jinquashi.
The very first shop getting into the market alley on Ji-san street was selling a homemade red bean soup. It contains three different taste balls( sweet potato, taro and green tea) and beans. Yummy!
They were making a peanut crepe ice-cream.
Once you get into the alley, you will see so many different tiny little shops along the street.
This is the hand-made porcelain craft shop to get a souvenir. Many different shape of the pipes displayed and Darrin picked the cat pipe for himself. The owner showed him how to play this little instrument.
It's totally dark outside even around 6 pm. and the chinese red lanterns fell to winking up.
The steep path was very narrow. Nevertheless it was jam packed with people to enjoy the festive atmosphere of Shuchi Street.
I just managed to get out of the hustle and bustle street to recheck our schedule.
We were finally settled at one of the tea houses on Shuchi street in order to rest up at night having some tea and snacks.
